Spurious drugs: FIR against two medicine shops
JAIPUR: The drug control department lodged an FIR against two medical shops suspected to have supplied spurious drugs to a cancer patient undergoing treatment at the SMS Hospital.
However, only one of the three vials of injections purchased by the patient from two shops were found to contain spurious drugs. Also the batch number on the vial did not match the sale bills of either of the suspected shops.
An FIR was registered at the Moti Doongri police station on Monday.

While preliminary investigation by the drug control department suspected foul play by the two medicine shops, hospital staff did not deny the possibility of the vial being replaced inside the hospital premises.
"Two medical shops have been under the scanner as the patient had purchased the drugs from these stores. Though the batch number on the bills of the shops differ from that mentioned on the vial, investigations are on," an officer said.
The incident came to light on August 27 when cancer patient Jagdish Chandra was about to be administered an antibiotic injection. The medical staff noticed a colour difference in the 10 mg vials brought by the patient's attendant. Among the three Adriamycin injections brought by the patient, one was found to contain spurious drug following the tests conducted by the drug control department.
